Startup fundraising advisor

We are seeking an experienced Startup Fundraising Advisor to help an early-stage company navigate the venture/angel fundraising process. This role focuses on fundraising strategy, investor targeting, pitch refinement, and managing an outreach pipeline. The ideal candidate has firsthand experience raising venture capital, working at a VC/accelerator, or advising startups through successful rounds, and can translate that experience into a clear, repeatable process. Warm introductions are a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Build a fundraising strategy (round type, target amount, timeline, milestones, investor thesis)
- Refine pitch materials: narrative, one-pager, pitch deck, and investor FAQ
- Create and prioritize a target investor list (angels, seed funds, strategic investors) aligned to our sector and stage
- Set up and run an outreach pipeline using CRM/tracking tools (Airtable/Notion/HubSpot/Sheets)
- Coach founders on pitching, meeting prep, follow-ups, and handling objections
- Advise on diligence readiness: metrics, traction story, and a lightweight data room
- Provide guidance on term sheet basics and fundraising process best practices
- (Optional) Facilitate warm introductions when there is clear fit and readiness
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience helping startups raise capital (angel/seed/Series A) or experience in VC/accelerator/platform/scouting with strong founder-facing work
- Strong understanding of early-stage venture fundraising mechanics and investor expectations
- Excellent written and verbal communication (deck/story/pitch feedback)
- Organized and process-driven: can run a weekly cadence, track a pipeline, and drive momentum
- High integrity and professional network etiquette (no “spray and pray” outreach)
Engagement & Compensation
- Contract / fractional (e.g., 5–10 hours/week), with weekly working sessions
- Compensation preferred as hourly or monthly retainer (not commission-based)
- Candidates must be able to advise without acting as a broker-dealer or “raising money on our behalf"
